Graphic display is an important part of a Real-Time Monitor & Control System. It is an effective way to improve the popularity and the reliability of a Monitor & Control System by using Configuration Software to make on-line menus and set the dynamic characteristics of these menus. The Configuration Software, which has been developed with Component Object Model, Object-Oriented Technology and Visual Programming Method by the author, has realized a good user interface, a Figure Class Library of powerful functions, a perfectly way to manage projects, a effective method to deal with Real-Time data, a nicer expanding interface and so on.Firstly, this paper introduces Object-Oriented Technology, Visual Programming Method and Component Object Model. Secondly, it designs the system by Component Object Model Oriented Method in general and divides the system into three models by the functions: Projects Explorer, Making Graphic System and Viewing Graphic System. The Projects Explorer, which manages the development, is the kernel of the Configuration Software. Making Graphic System is inside Projects Explorer, which masses the project resources such as graphics menus, order language, device driver program and data reports. The Projects Explorer shows these resources in a tree view and this function is similar with the resource explorer in the operating system of Windows 98. Viewing Graphic System is a running system. It can show the local menus that are made in Making Graphic System, read the Real-Time data from Real-Time database and realize the dynamic effects. And it is the final form of local supervisory and data acquisition.Finally, this paper introduces the software in the aspect of the program code. And it explains some important code used in the development of the Configuration Software.The author feels that Object-Oriented and Component Object Model Oriented Configuration Software is more reliable than other same software before. And it also has better ability to expand and better ability to be reused. The author believes that it has a good prospect to apply Component Object Model, Object-Oriented Technology and Visual Programming Method into the field of power industrial automation.
