With the continued growth in air transportation, the problem of airspace congestion caused by lack of flight levels has been becoming a bottleneck of development of Chinese air traffic control, so that the air transport business has suffered huge economic losses. The RVSM has been generally practiced abroad, if the flight level in China could not be smoothly joined with foreign countries, it will pose a potential security risk to the flight. It is increasingly prominent to the requirements of civil aviation airspace, and the performance of civil aircraft has not been given full play. The current flight levels are not conducive to the performance of civil aircraft into full play, it is actually a waste of resources. In order to make full use of our country airspace resources, markedly increase airspace capacity, and be geared to international standards, RVSM has become the inevitable trend of development in Chinese air traffic control.If the RVSM is carried out in the airspace, it will be improved significantly to the airspace capacity. However, the decrease of the vertical separation will be bound to increase aircraft collision probability and affect aviation safety at the same time. This research in this area is still in its infancy in China, if we simply rely on foreign institutions, it will have to provide the confidential information, such as China's airspace structure and the military aircraft flight performance, and will pose a serious threat to national security; At the same time, civil and military aviation airspace in China have its own characteristics, and moving foreign theory mechanically will not solve China's RVSM practical problems still. Put all in a nutshell, we must research the RVSM operational safety monitoring technology to meet the needs of our air traffic control, and it will supply the effective protection for the smooth practice of the RVSM airspace system operation as well as the safety of RVSM in China.On this background and relying on embedded technology, this thesis studies the key technical issues involved in the design, development and application of the RVSM airspace aircraft height data monitoring equipment. The main objective is to monitor and collect the real time data of aircraft vertical flying altitude for the use of subsequent data processing and analysis, in order to master the vertical deviation and the performance of height maintenance during the process of the aircraft flying, and to provide assessment and surveillance means for the safe operation of RVSM airspace. In this paper, it provides concrete realization methods for the equipment's key part of hardware and software. After the completion of the design and debugging of hardware and software, it is followed by a practical aircraft carrying test. Finally, Summary is given at the end of the thesis, and some surviving shortages of the equipment and the function points which need to improve are proposed.
