At present, the open motion controller technology and the fieldbus technology are widely applied in industrial controls. This paper analyses the characteristics, development and common applications of the typical open architecture motion controller, presents a control resolution with the structure of "PC + Ethernet Interface Card", and implements the application on the bending machine controlled by PC control software.Based on the analysis of the bending machine's current development at home and abroad, this paper gives the resolution for the automatic machining control according to the features of the new bending machine. During the process of the automatic machining, on the base of traditional techniques, the paper adopts an improved process planning method which has improved the quality of products and increased the productivity of them.The platform for this subject uses the open NC system based on EtherMC(Ethernet for Motion Control) Ethernet Bus. The communication between PC and the ethernet interface card is implemented via standard Ethernet. The ethernet interface card links all drivers and I/O together. It is responsible for signal conversion between the upper computer's software and the motor or I/O, to execute actual machining movements or return the state information. It is also responsible for providing a timing clock for the upper computer's software, to fulfill the real-time and synchronous control of the system.All control functions of the bending machine are implemented in the upper computer's software. This is also the main part of the paper. The upper control software is developed using the Microsoft Visual Studio tool in Windows Operating System. This paper adopts module designs and object-oriented methods according to functional demands, gives out the designing method of each module, and then finishes software implementations. The result indicates that this system can meet needs of actual projects by debugging and testing.
