The bending work-pieces are widely used in automobiles, building, appliancesand other industries. With the continuous development of industries, the precision ofbending work-pieces is highly demanded more and more. The precision of bendingwork-pieces depend on the control precision of CNC wire bending machine controlsystem. However, it is difficult to complete the high precision wire bending process,which are the traditional mechanical bending and the wire bending machine to SCM orPLC as control core. And their level of integration, automation and intelligence is low.So, the more advanced control system is needed. This paper puts forward a wirebending machine control system with “PC+motion control card” as core. The paperhas done research in the following several aspects:In the paper, the open CNC system is introduced. And it main illustrates theconcept, the characteristic and the present situation of study at home and abroad ofopen CNC system. The mechanical structures of wire bending machine is illustrated inthe paper, which mainly include bending module, shear module, traversing mechanism,feeding module and straightening module. The working principle of these modules isdetailed. The different processing method of wire bending machine is illustrated for thedifferent types of bending work-pieces. And the calculating method of correspondingparameter id gave. The design requirements of wire bending machine motion controlsystem are putted.According to the control requirements of wire bending machine, the hardwaresystem of wire bending machine motion control system is designed. First of all, the overall plan of hardware design is illustrated. And the GT-400-SV motion control cardis used as the control core of control system. The parameters of each axis’ step motorare determined by calculating for selecting right step motors and their drives. After that,the I/O interface circuit and feedback circuit are designed. The anti-interferencecapability of hardware system is further optimized. Finally, the schematic diagram ofhardware system is drawn.The software system of wire bending machine control system is designed. TheWindows operating system is used for software development platform. The software isdesigned in VC++6.0environment. Initial setting the GT-400-SV motion control card,each axis and I/O interface. Each functional module of software system is designed byVC++. And the software system realizes parameter setting, automatic processing, filemanagement and so on.
