With the increase of mobile network bandwidth as well as various data services in 3G mobile network, a lot of business that related with messages, such as instant messaging service platform, PoC (Push-to-talk over Cellular) service platform and so on, they all need the resource list management, group management and other functions, but if the resource list information and group information is only used for a separate business, that is binding to a specific business, then this will be a great inconvenience to management and users experience. With a wide range of demand of end-users, such as cell phone, PDA(Personal Digital Assistant) or PC, users want to use all the services in all these devices , this situation appears: users want to use all the uniformed service data in all these devices, therefore the demand for mananging such data becomes more apparent than in the past. How to achieve a unified resource list management and group management with a better platform to provide this capability to other businesses is becoming a worth problem on 3G network.Group may the answer to the above problems, and it brings much contribution to business, it also brings many business opportunities by itself. The operators and other Service Providers itegrate and promote many services like Group Presence and IM(Instant Messaging). Group also can bring profit to Operators.This article treats the implementation of Group as a kind of service capability so to achieve a unified resource list management and group management. This article designs and implementation Group base on EBAS 3G application server on IMS(IP Multimedia System), the system can provide interface so that other Service Providers can build new complex services base on it. This article firstly analyzes the requirement of Group service engine and summarizes the characteristics of the basic business functions, secondly designes modular of the system and the detailed protocol and message of interface, including SIP(Session Initiation Protocol) and XCAP(XML Configuration Access Protocol). Thirdly design and realization core functional modules such as Aggressive Proxy module, document management module and SIP transceiver module, analyzes the network constitute of Group and implementation program based on application server. Finally do the system stress tests and stability tests in the laboratory environment and analyze the performance in order to find the inadequate of the system and provide the future direction for improvement.This paper is composed of six chapters.ChapterⅠbriefly describes the concept of Group, summarizes the latest related research progress of Group at home and abroad, puts forward the main content and significance of this paper.ChapterⅡsummarizes functional characteristics of Group service capability.ChapterⅢdesigns the overall structure of Group in detail, designs the interface and application flow, designs and realizes key modules, include structure diagram class diagram and the key issues encounter in the system.ChapterⅣputs forward the IMS network structure to realize the Group service engine and researches several programs to achieve Group service engine in the EBAS 3G application server.ChapterⅤmainly describes the test process on Group service engine and summarizes the result of the test and the issues that need to optimize. Chapter VI summarizes the improvement of the design and realization of Group and describes the scenarios when Group used on other service platform.
