In order to meet the needs of the data services market demand from mobile users, in 2007, china mobile arranged the installation of EGPRS networks nationwide. Currently competition in the telecom industry is growing increasingly fierce. Against this backdrop, in addition to the existing GSM wireless network, the key issue about wireless network optimization is how to enhance the quality of data service networks to better ensure that EGPRS networks perform data capacity. At present, 3G license has been issued. However, when 3G services and user groups are not yet ripe, as an important transitional technology before TD-SCDMA networks becomes mature, the introduction of a new technology, EGPRS, in existing GPRS networks, plays a vital role in enhancing data services competitiveness of china mobile. Therefore, with practical work, author has been performing an in-depth study of GPRS/EGPRS wireless network optimization.Through the above-mentioned research, the GPRS wireless optimization experience about work flow,parameter optimization,analysis method, whichcan be applied to actual optimization work directly, have been provided, which is of great significance to enhancing the user perception, improving data network operating quality and efficient use of resources.This paper is composed of eight chapters. The first four chapters introduce GPRS system theory. First chapter gives a brief introduction to GPRS mobile communication system that includes GPRS system features and the main problems, the description of GPRS networks optimization, GPRS logical architecture and main entities, three modes of operation and main numbering plans of GPRS networks; and then the main interfaces and related protocols for GPRS are introduced briefly in chapter two; the third chapter introduces Um and Gb interfaces associated with the wireless side. Chapter four introduces GPRS major advanced functions. The latter four chapters present the application of GPRS networks optimization in TianJin mobile. The major problems of wireless networks and GPRS network development process in TianJin mobile are reviewed in chapter five; chapter six describes the Motorola wireless devices and performance-related main parameters; chapter seven analyzes GPRS maintenance and optimization processes; the eighth chapter gives typical cases of improvement of EGPRS networks quality through channel configuration and parameters optimization.Through the above-mentioned research, the GPRS wireless optimization experience about work flow,parameter optimization,analysis method, which can be applied to actual optimization work directly, have been provided, which is of great significance to enhancing the user perception, improving data network operating quality and efficient use of resources.In conclusion, (E) GPRS network is a new overlay network over the existing GSM network technique. The same physical resource bears GPRS and GSM networks in the radio base station side. Therefore, the development of these two networks is promoted and constrained by each other. This paper has summarized more effective optimization method at present; the key issue of network optimization is how to coordinate the development of two networks and to provide high quality voice and data services to mobile customers continuously.
