From the day that ITU formally accepted TD-SCDMA as the third generation mobile communication standards to today, TD-SCDMA has undergone more than seven years of development and continuous improvement. It adopt TDD duplex mode, smart antennas, joint detection and other new technologies, bring much profits as well as challenges for the whole system. Today, TD-SCDMA system is still being perfected.In the planning and construction of mobile communication network , the coverage of residential area is still a difficult problem, which also existing in the solutions. In particular, in many residential areas, smart antennae can't be used in the coverage of TD-SCDMA network, so the quality of network became more difficult to be effectively protected. Thus, in the planning and construction of TD-SCDMA network, It is meaningful both in theory and practice that how to formulate and implement the coverage strategy for residential areas.The paper adopt theoretical analysis, simulation study, practical testing and a variety of means to make a deep study and a solution in problem of TD-SCDMA network coverage in residential areas at present. In order to study this paper a certain degree of representativeness and universality, two typical residential areas are selected for the research target, and theoretical analysis, simulation study, practical testing and a variety of methods are used to make an in-depth research and analysis for the residential areas covered strategies.First, I carry out a detailed analysis to the coverage strategy in many kind of existing residential areas, draw up a most suitable coverage strategy to the biggest residential area at present, that is to adopt the BBU and RRU distributed component-based outdoor station coverage strategy;Secondly, use the simulation tools for the study to the selected residential areas in the two types of whether or not to open the distributed systems outdoors; Finally, respectively the actual residential areas in three setting situation, and the test results are carried out in-depth analysis, research and discussion, to draw a series of corresponding conclusions.The results show that after the outdoor distribution system was built, the network coverage was significantly enhance, the major networks performance indicators have significantly improved. As to large residential areas, it's reasonable and feasible to adopt the BBU and RRU distributed component-based outdoor station coverage strategy,it will realize the deep coverage of residential areas.
