The risk of geotechnical engineering construction is becoming increasingly apparent in mountainous construction. This paper, with a typical mountainous city---Fengjie County---as the research subject, combined with previous research ac hievements, by investigating the situation of on-site high-slope disaster, based on the basic theories of risk analysis in geotechnical engineering, and by means of such research methods as geographic information systems (GIS) technology, GPS technology, as well as neural network analysis method, builds, on the basis of data collection and collation, a set of risk management system in areas suffering from high-slope disasters in mountainous cities. The main contents of the paper are presented below:①To make a relatively further analysis of the factors that exert influence on the mechanism of high-slope deformation and destruction and the occurrence of disasters in New City of Fengjie County, on the basis of making a on-site survey of the current situation of the geological environment and high-slope disasters.②To explore, based on the basic model and method of geotechnical risk analysis, a risk assessment model fit for assessing the regional risk of high-slope disasters in mountainous cities and analyze the feasibility of using GIS technology to achieve risk analysis, after discussing the factors imposing influence on the mechanism of high-slope deformation and destruction and the occurrence of disasters in New City of Fengjie County.③To set up an evaluation index system for high-slope disaster zoning in New City of Fengjie county, to study the weight of various assessing factors'contribution to high-slope disasters, and on this basis, to make a risk zoning analysis of the high slopes in New City of Fengjie County.④To build three vulnerability assessment indicators for the population, housing and ancillary assets, roads and ancillary assets, based on investigating on the spot; to conduct a vulnerability analysis of the impact of high-slope disaster in New City of Fengjie County, by using overlapping computing of GIS raster data layers.⑤To achieve, in GIS platform, a high-slope disaster risk zoning in New City of Fengjie County, by using aforementioned risk assessment model in high-slope risk zoning of mountainous cities and using the method of image superimposed with the re-classification. ⑥For a typical landslide in high risk areas---Wangjiaping Landslide, to predict the stability and post-deformation of landslides in Wangjiaping; to further analyze the possibility of catastrophic slopes; and to provide risk management and decision-making sectors with decision-making criteria, using GPS monitoring technology and combined with neural network method.⑦Based on the above studies, and with New City of Fengjie County as the research subject, to construct a systematic framework for the regional risk management in high-slope areas in mountainous cities.
