Software estimation is an important activity in software engineering, the results of software estimation has a great impact on the success of software projects. Software size measurement is the basis of software estimation, determines the project cycle, cost and resource scheduling. Thera are many kinds of methods in software size measurement; Function Point Analysis (FPA) is one of the most popular methods.MarkⅡFP, as one of Function point methods, is a quantitative method used for application software, which divides overall system into a series of logical transactions, computes software size by summing the logical transactions. MarkⅡFP method has a strong adaptability in MIS systems, telecommunications supportting systems, enterprise resource planning system.Firstly, This article comprehensively analysis and compared the various methods of software size measurement, explained the principle and the measurement process of MarkⅡFP method. And used MarkⅡFP methods to estimate a typical MIS system - NUDT Digital Campus educational administration management system, analysis the results of the measure in detail. Combined with measurement result of the other students of our research team by using IFPUG and of COSMIC methods, we used a software model(the seven activities) to establish a consistent model for IFPUG, MarkⅡand COSMIC methods, charactered the their basic differences in software activity on this model. By comparing these methods in the sample application using the general formula, we also analyzed the basic reason causing difference results. We found they would produce similar results.Measurement result show that the measurement result of MarkⅡmethod is between that of IFPUG measurement methods and the COSMIC method, different software activities should have impact on software size. In this sense, IPFUG and MarkⅡmethods may get a more accurate size measurement, but the selection of these methods weighted factor increase difficulty of localization.Although the article may only be supplement of MarkⅡmanual, the result of the article can also provide some inspiration for further study of function point.
