Research And Application On COSMIC Function Point

Software size is the important parameter of project evaluation and the important reference for enterprise to make decisions, so at the software requirement analysis phase, it's necessary to measure the software size. Among the measurements, Function Point method is used in the requirements analysis phase. COSMIC is the next generation functional size measurement method, which measures the software from user's viewpoints.With studying on the COSMIC method, the thesis presents the practical model of business application. It mainly includes:1) The thesis discusses the development of Function Point method, compares the traditional Function Point method and COSMIC method, and studies the COSMIC method in details.2) In the business applications, the UML concepts are introduced into COSMIC method.3) The thesis designs and implements a COSMIC Measurement Tool (CMT) .CMT defines series of different statistics rules, which are easy to get the clear and precise measurement data effectively.4) CMT is applied into quality management in the software enterprises, the effectiveness of using CMT is verified, by integrating the enterprise project management and process of quality control. The tool not only provides the support for the enterprise to get the software size, but also provides the important references for the enterprise to manage projects , configure the resources, control and improve the processes, and manage personnel.
