With the improvement of living standards, people who have met their basic needs tend topursue a better quality of life these years. Terms of apparel, traditional high-volume, single-orientedgarment production is declining, while the low-volume, customized clothing production is on therise. Electricity supplier’s success exactly reflects the consumers’ pursuit of personalized,diversified apparel. In order to meet consumers’ need, non-contact measurement of the humantechnology which based on point cloud has become one of the important directions of research.Considering the software and hardware platforms, applications, technical points of the methods,hotpots and many other factors, four technologies are selected to analysis and research. Includingthe three-dimensional body size measurement system design by different point cloud acquisitiondevices, point cloud holes repair method for body size measurement system, size extraction methodbased on human body point cloud, girth measurements of human body point cloud withnon-standard posture. Contents of this article are intended to help the garment industry to betterachieve and apply this method. Specific studies are as follows:The second chapter describes the design framework for the existing three-dimensional bodysize measurement system. This paper design and analysis the system based on structured lightscanner and Kinect. It introduces the common software platform PCL (Point Cloud Library) too.In the third chapter, we present a method to repair holes in the point cloud for bodymeasurement system. Experiments prove that the size of the body point cloud model obtained byour method is consistent with the measurement manually acquired, the difference is within3%.The fourth chapter summarized the existing three-dimensional body size measurementmethods. Measurement methods can be divided into two kinds, semi-automatic and fully automaticmeasurements. Through analysis and comparison, we find that semi-automatic measurementmethod is suitable for high-end consumer private custom scene, and automated production issuitable for large-scale standardized measurement.A way of using the geodesic model to achieve the measurement result of non-standard posturebody is presented considering that the general methods demand the human body must maintain thestandard posture, and the importance of girth in the measurement result. The experimental resultsshow that this method is valid and reliable and the difference is within8%.
