Real-time simulation technology for complex process is a useful tool in the modern chemical industry. In this thesis, a client program is built with VB6.0 to collect and transmit real-time data from DCS to simulation software, AspenPlus(?). The step of the real-time simulation of an air separation unit is discuss as well in this paper. The main contributions could be summarized as follows:1) A client program is built with VB6.0. The structure of the real-time simulation system have been settled. The real-time simulation system has been established. It enables us to read the real-time data from DCS and to trigger simulation in specified conditions.2) How to implement the real-time simulation in an air separation unit has been studied. It has been carried out by modeling and analyzing process, classifying variables. The accuracy of the model is also proved by examining the locale data.
