The researches on laser scattering characteristic of object have important application value in national defense, aviation, spaceflight and weather departments, so the automated measurement system of laser scattering intensity has more significance for the study of Laser Radar Cross Section (LRCS).The basic theory and the interrelated technology of automated measurement system of laser scattering intensity are studied in this thesis. The definitions of scattering intensity are firstly discussed, and surface roughness and measurement technology are investigated. Then, the whole structure of the system is designed and laser emitter, mechanism structure and receiving system of photoelectricity signal are analyzed further. After introducing the main instruments, we achieve automatic detection of photoelectricity signal by using the photomultiplier with high sensitivity and the Lock-In amplifier SR850 detecting weak signal, and performances of automated measurement system are enhanced. In addition, the method of data processing is introduced in detail. By compiling the software of measurement system, the data bidirectional transmission between Lock-In amplifier SR850 and the computer is realized, also the control of the computer to Lock-In amplifier SR850 and mechanism structure is gained. Therefore, the automation of system has been achieved. Subsequently, the performance of system are tested, and typical samples are experimentized, including backscattering and bistaticscattering, thus the feasibility of automated measurement system of laser scattering intensity is validated using the principle of the system designed.
