Lidar is widely used in civil and military for its excellent characteristics. The target laser scattering characteristics is an important aspect in lidar detection. Accurate analysis of this is an important prerequisite for rational design of lidar.Firstly, the effect of the sky background and the parameters of optical system on lidar is investigated, and the unity of different kinds of lidar equation is discussed. Laser atmospheric transmittance in the slant path is researched. Background radiation at different time and different azimuth is analysized by Modtran. Noise of background and sensor is computed and measured, which provide a basis for optical design. Secondly, the LRCS computing software is developed based on the basic theory of GRECO and OpenGL. The LRCS of a big complex target in irradiation region is analysized emphatically. Intensity distributions of the monostatic and bistatic lidar scattered by target is provided. LRCS computing software is used to calculate the bistatic LRCS scaling relations of Teflon sphere, which is consistent with the experimental, and lay a foundation for the bistatic LRCS scaling relations of complex target. Finally, the LRCS of some samples is measured with auto measuring system. Backenhanced scattering is discussed, and the result of measurement is applied to compute LRCS of complex target.
