Research And Primary Implementation Of Heterogeneous Database Access In ChemDataBase

The major way of organizing and managing chemical information is database, and with the constantly informationization of chemical research, chemical databases are in a state of rapid development. These databases always have a mass of data and the database schemas are various, but a single database could not meet the demand for searching and using of chemo-information. Therefore, a uniform searching mode could infinitely decrease the cost of research and improve the efficiency of chemists.ChemDataBase is an individual database management tool which is developed for computational chemistry e-Science (e-Chemistry for short). It supports a uniform and high-efficiency method of organizing, managing and querying the local chemical data. When chemists solve problems, they not only need to manage the local data, but also need to do some searches on so many kinds of different databases. Accordingly, providing the access of heterogeneous chemical databases could increase the effectiveness of chemists.This paper focuses on the problems discussed above. We research and analyze the typical uniform search method of heterogeneous databases and the requirements of access of chemical databases in e-Chemistry, and then we propose the function of uniform searching in ChemDataBase. This paper firstly does some researches on how to use web service technologies to realize the remote data search and service access. And then we design and implement the uniform search function of databases in CGSP based on the virtual table mechanism. At last we integrate the web service client of EBI in ChemDataBase to achieve the uniform searching of databases in EBI.
