With the popularization of Internet applications, it is convenient and economical to hold virtual meetings through Internet. Types of netmeetings currently availabled in the market are based on the instant communication technology in general, such as text, data, audio and video and so on, but it is difficult to simulate the whiteboard communication in an actual meeting environment. Therefore, the main work in this artical is to develop a whiteboard netmeeting system with practical value.In order to specify the results of our work, we first analysis the key technical issues, and we use analysis and simulation methods to confirme the superiority of using Chord protocol. At the same time, we also use the color distinction method in CSCW technology to distinct different clients, in order to control the painting show on the shared whiteboard interface. Then, we design the specific implement forms of overall system architecture and each functional module based on the system network model, and finally use programming tools to achieve them. At last, we discuss how to apply the whiteboard system on to the WEB-EDA platform.Two innovations in this paper are as follows:(1) We use the Chord protocol to manage the distribution of network nodes and graphic data resources, all nodes involved are responsible for the data flow distribution, so it has great adaptive and fault tolerance abilities in large-scale network. Meanwhile, every node in P2P network has equal ability, so it could effectively solve problems of network load balancing and single node failure.(2) With the inspiration of P2P streaming media technology, we try to change the previous mode of thinking. During the transmission of data resource from the source node to the destination node, the source node does not send data resource automatically, but it is up to the destination node's request. This mechanism makes the data resource can be downloaded from several nodes, when network environment is poor, we can ensure the real time ability of the system.
