In the existing and designing fiber-optic communication systems, we must measure the system so as to make sure that whether the system is able to meet the requirements. Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) is an apparatus of optical failure detection, is widely used in the test of the optical fiber, its main purpose is to detect, locate , measuring optical fiber link changes in any location, and becoming the first choice in optical fiber fault detection.This article introduces the Optical Time Domain Reflectometer history of development, as well as the basic principles of fiber-optic measurement system block diagram; then a Optical Time Domain Reflectometer design of embedded systems, mainly S3C2440A chip ARM9-based embedded systems to build the hardware environment, including power supply design, ARM minimum system design, storage system design, show the system design and so on, the last platform in the Platform Builder for Windows CE embedded system kernel customization, the system generates the smallest kernel-image, and by designing a response to hardware environment of the system boot process Boot loader, Achieved in the design of the hardware platform to run on Windows CE operating system, the initial target, and the optical fiber to a simple control test.
