GSM is the world's most popular wireless communication standard, it have played an important role both in civilian area and some special area like GSM-R. Because reasons like Rayleigh fading and delayed effects in the wireless channel and unknown factors in transmite and receive ends, received signal have much Error factors. GSM receiver can not be separated from the synchronization system. In order to get better synchronization quality, research for the most suitable synchronization algorithrn in GSM base-band signal is necessary. Synchronization is very important to GSM receiver, which include time and frequency synchronization.In a long period of time, people use specific ASIC chip to realize GSM reception and demodulation. Using software to achieve the base-band processing algorithm is the core idea of Software-Defined Radio. But it's more flexible and scalable to do this with FPGA or DSP.This papers focus on the synchronization algorithm research of GSM receiver and receiver design based on FPGA and DSP, which include:Designed and verified different time and frequency synchronization algorithm through learning theoretical knowledge. Discuss both envelope detection and FFT time synchronization methods of FB. Compare SB's real signal correlation and complex signal correlation methods of time synchronization. The paper has also given a FB's correlation method to frequency synchronization.Designed a RF end receive system with ALTERA EP3C25 hardware development platform, RDA6210 GSM Transceiver chip and FPGA. Introduced the performance of RDA6210 and how to control it with a control module which designed by FPGA. The RF end receive system can be used to get actual base-band data, which is very useful for simulation.Designed a GSM receiver based on FPGA and RF end, complete the base-band data processing through ALTERA EP2S180 development platform. A separated differential amplifier module using THS4501 is designed to adapt to the AD9433 input. The papers also designed a data storage program.Designed a GSM receive scheme based on DSP and RF end, this program has used chips such as AD9243, FPDA and TMS320C6416TDSP. Transmition and storage of samping data was realized by McBSP+EDMA. All of above designs have been given test results to to verify the reliability.
