| From the perspective of the history of ancient civilization and the history of library science, this thesis analyses the basic conditions for the establishment of the ancient library of Alexandria; indicates the inheritance relationship from the ancient library of Alexandria to libraries in Europe; explores the important impacts and the historical status of ancient library of Alexandria in the history of human culture.The thesis is consisted of three main chapters as following:The fist chapter, analyses the basic social conditions and historical background of the ancient library of Alexandria, from the view of economy, policy and social cultural, exploring the deeper reasons of the development of Alexandrian library.The second chapter, introduces the basic situation of the library building, including the library architecture, resources collection, organization, emendation and librarians arrangement. Depending on existing historical information or resources, describing the basic situation of the Alexandrian library.The third chapter, focuses on analyzing the historical status and impact of the ancient library of Alexandria. Indicating that the Alexandria library accelerated the transfer of cultural center from the Athens to the Alexandria, created the conditions for the flourish of the Hellenistic culture, at the same time, Alexandrian library become the model of ancient libraries.The ancient library of Alexandria was not isolated, it was the future exploration and innovation based on the development of the good traditions of ancient Greek library, it was the particular stage's abundant achievements of the cultural exchange of the Hellenistic Age, it was the results of the flourish of the Alexandria's economy and cultural, and also it was the results of the protection of Ptolemy Dynasty. Library of Alexandria was the typical representation of the Hellenistic civilization, and made the innovative exploring and practicing for the development of library enterprise in the world. |
