With the rapid development of computer and network technology, enterprises and universities are establishing various information systems to manage all sorts of business data in the process of their information construction. Because of the difference in their business and functions, these systems are mostly isolated from each other, like"information islands"with no interfaces to visit each other. It has become an urgent issue for enterprises and universities to integrate these business data. Establishing a heterogeneous data integrated system is one of the effective ways to solve these problems. Traditional data integration methods as the federal database method and the data storehouse method have their limitations. The former has too many interfaces of access and the latter can not reflect the real-time data modification. To overcome these shortcomings, this paper proposes a heterogeneous data integration system based on Web Services technology and the virtual database technology. The system can effectively solve the most difficult problems of semantic heterogeneity in heterogeneous data integration, and can also ensure the consistency and integrity of the database. The main research contents are as follows:1. This paper analyzes and studies the relevant technologies of heterogeneous data integration, Web Services technology and Microsoft ADO.NET technology with the function of depositing and withdrawing the data. On the basis of studying the principles of heterogeneous data integration, the paper proposes some corresponding solutions.2. In view of the naming heterogeneity, the data type heterogeneity, the dimension heterogeneity, the precision heterogeneity and the data representation heterogeneity in Semantic conflict, the paper designs a field dictionary table and a field mapping table to solve the semantic heterogeneities of data in the process of mutual transformation between the data model of local database system and the public data models.3. In case that the heterogeneous data sources involved in the heterogeneous integration system do not support the distributed transaction components COM+ of Microsoft.NET, the 3PC(the three-phase commitment) during distributed transactions in the heterogeneous data integration is realized with technologies of Web Services, the .NET Single transaction and multi-threading to ensure the consistency and integrality of the database.4. This system performs its excellent low coupling and expansibility with the help of the Web Services technology and the Microsoft ADO.NET technology to realize the unified interface-Web Service of the local data source.
