Heterogeneous data source integration is the key issue to realize the enterprise application integration, and is an effective way to solve "the information isolated island" under the network conditions.Along with the computer and the network technology development, corporations and enterprises constructed some application information systems one after another. Because various departments have different demands, the information systems are constructed in different eras, different software developers, and selected different database systems, which are resulted in heterogeneous data resources. These resources are unable to provide the comprehensive information and to realize information sharing and the information exchange between systems, which is also precisely the main question university faces at present.The University Data Center (UDC) is for the purpose of constructing a central database, through integrating the heterogeneous data resources. It will shield differences in the data pattern and the semantic aspect of each application system in the university, provide a general data and integrated platform for the entire school user, maintain the data on the different system integrity and uniformity, and solve "information isolated island" problem of university from information integration lay.This article brought a project to solve the integration problems of heterogeneous data resources through researching the integrative technology of the heterogeneous data resources and analyzing the processes and methods of data integration, which utilized the non- hypothesized middleware. The project mainly aims at the model heterogeneous and the semantic heterogeneous questions which exist in the University Data Center construction, the plan includes following three aspects:Through constructing the sharing data model, we build the UDC to make the goal database have an overall and general application data pattern, which is the foundation of the effective integration of heterogeneous data resources.By Choosing XML as the transformation language, we defined an integration data model based on the XML Schema (XIDM), as intergradation between the sharing data model and the partial model.Unified the information standard on the foundation of Ministry of Education, in view of each semantic conflict type, we used the concept of metadata, described mapping from the unified information standard to semantics definition of various data sources, and defined mapping transformation rule.This article has provided the beneficial theory basis and the practice guide for heterogeneous data integration problems which university data center are facing.
