In recent years, as the development of computer vision, visualization in scientific computing, computer graphics and their interfacing discipline, it is very popular in creating three-dimensional terrain model by two-dimensional terrain data. The real-time rendering and visualization of terrain is becoming the key problem of technical researches related to virtual reality, computer graphics, visualization unscientific computing and so on. Three-dimensional virtual marine environment module is the emulation of virtual marine environment. Researching the visualization of three-dimensional marine terrain is the key of creating three-dimensional virtual marine environment module. Based on such consideration, his dissertation uses virtual reality technology to develop a visualization of three-dimensional marine terrain test module with Visual C++7.0 and MultiGen Creator MultiGen VegaPrime. The following studies have been done around the Problem of creating three-dimensional terrain model automaticly and visualization.Introduce the purpose of research, analyze the development status of three-dimensional virtual reality visualization. Analyze the source of the marine environment information data and information extraction methods about creating three-dimensional terrain model to use.Through the interpolation algorithm to supplement the chart data extracted, get the grid data as the same with range of the original electronic chart. And on this basis, create three-dimensional terrain model automaticly.In order to schedule the terrain model and the texture file easily in the three-dimensional terrain visualization module, propose the idea of creating three-dimensional terrain model database.Research the basic components of the virtual marine environment and the various elements to meet visual realism, accomplish the development of the three-dimensional marine terrain visualization module based on Vega Prime. Propose the perspective to schedule the terrain show dynamicly in the marine environment by different view point of observers, accomplish substituting the model by different resolution.
