Multiple Input Multiple Output(MIMO) system is one of the most important technological breakthroughs. The technology promotes the developments of many advanced communication technologies, which is considered to be one of the key technologies to solve the problem on wireless communication channel capacity and transmission rate spectrum. The MIMO system has been widely used, soon after the invention of it.The advantage of MIMO technology is its huge potential capacity which is increased with the antenna number linearly. The result of theoretical research and practical application shows that MIMO is an important way to achieve high-speed wireless Gigabit communication, with high research value.Though MIMO technology developed a lot after years of research,it still had following shortcomings:①The detection problem in MIMO system.Good detection algorithm is important to approach the capacity of Multi-antenna systems.Because of the high complexity of signal detection in MIMO system;the classical Maximum likelihood algorithm is not conducive to the practical application.②The initial radius of the sphere decoding algorithm is hard to fix.The initial radius is set to infinity generally, which improves the computational complexity and degrade the bit error rate. The research on the problems mentioned above is very necessary and valuable. In this paper, the research was carried out from following aspects:①The simulation of MIMO system with Rayleigh channel;②The research on the ways to fix the initial radius of conventional sphere decoding algorithm;③The research on sphere decoding in IEEE 802.11n.There are following achievements in this paper:①Applied the sphere decoding algorithm in the V-BLAST system and compared the bit error rate of the sphere decoding algorithm with conventional detection algorithm.②The improvement on the way to fix the initial radius.③The research of the sphere decoding algorithm in IEEE 802.11n.
