With the rapid development of various technologies,Internet needs to provide a wide range of services and ensure the good performance of the communication.Single node failure is a serious problem in network communication. DNS(Domain Name Server) can't totally describe the resource and updates slowly. Therefore,it has become a hot spot that how to provide continuous and stable high quality service with attacks and failures in network. The service migration provides a good method to support stable and reliable communications. This paper proposes an approach of C/S based service migration which is based on the universal network and guarantees the connection no matter there are congestions or failures in communication. This thesis relying on the work of National Basic Research Program of China(973 Program) topics designs a C/S based service migration.Firstly we introduce the existing service migration technologies and common download technologies, and analyze the pros and cons of them.Secondly,we analyze the separation of identity and location, and design a method of C/S based service migration. The download program reflects the seamless switch:including using the connection identifier(CID) to establish the connection.Meanwhile,we introduce stream control transmission protocol(SCTP),and use SCTP for data transfer.Thirdly, this paper gives the design of the Linux platform in the programming. In this scenario, there are some features:1) using the optional SCTP, with concurrent multi-path transfer(CMT) technique,to improve the speed of downloads;2) using the optional application protocol to ensure the smooth switching transition;3) save the intermediate state in real-time to ensure no interruption in the communication;4) using the service identifier(SID) as the identity of the resource and using CID to establish the connection to ensure the stability and reliability of services.Through the deployment of experiments and the tests,it shows the scenario can meet the functions requirement of the service migration:the connection will migrate immediately when there is a resources migration, network congestion or server failure; different servers can use different application protocols and transport protocols. The success of the realization prepares a solid foundation for the future research of the migration in the universal network.
