With the rapid development of social economy and improvement in the degree of modernization, a growing number of industries and sectors need to have the real-time information about its vehicles to monitor and schedule. Such demand makes the vehicle condition monitoring system become popular in the filed of ITS.Ituran system is a special monitoring network with the functions of two-way communication and positioning. Our government fetched it into China to supply the positioning and wireless communication service. Now, Shanghai had implemented this network and put into operation. In this paper, based on the deeply study of Ituran system, a condition monitoring system is brought forward for small and medium-sized companies. The project is based on advanced technology of wireless communication, positioning and Google maps.Mobile Intelligent Terminal uses 80C51 for data processing core, and connects with TULIP through the serial port. The project designed CAN bus interface, dot-matrix LCD and keyboard to attain high expansibility and good interaction.Web server of monitoring system is Browser/Server mode architecture based on J2EE. JSP, Java, MySQL are used to designed the system for the performance of high expansibility and portability. Google Maps, a technology based on AJAX, is used to design the GIS.A series of unit tests had been carried out during the development of system design. Integration test had been done after the system completion. And accordingly, some improvement had been figured out.The project contributed to the Ituran system with some constructive advice and laid the foundation for further study.
