The rapid development of computer and digital communications technology has changed many aspects of the traditional information field. In the mid 1990s,the boom of constructing digital libraries arose both at home and abroad.Books and archives, which have many similarities in information management, are an important part of information resources. Thus,it was supposed to build digital archives from the construction of digital libraries in the late 1990s in China. It aims to digitize media archives, such as papers, photographs, videos, and so on,and supply digitized archive information resources for the information society for rapid file query and sharing by multi-media,database and network technology.Digital archives, which provide convenient and quick queries for customers, have no space and number limitation.Local and remote users can utilize, store and manage archive information through network.First, the thesis discusses the main process of digitizing an archive. Then, according to the digital directory database of a traditional archive and the analysis of the functional requirements for a digital archive, the B/S and C/S mode are combined for the system architecture. The overall scheme is formulated and the main functions of the system are specified. The digital archive system chooses SQL Server2000 as a background database and establishes a rational database mode and storage structure, which ensures effective access to data and meets the processing requirements of the application tasks..NET and C# are selected as the developing platform and language, respectively. The ado net database access technology is used. The online query function and the storage and management function in compact discs are realized.
