Realistic simulation technology of natural scenes has always been a hot research problem in graphics,and realistic simulation technology of grassland scenes is one of the most important parts.On the basis of summing up research results at home and abroad,this paper studies and realizes simulation approaches of realistic grassland scenes,and focus on how to generate a variety of realistic grass models with dynamic effects in the wind The main research contents and results summarized as follows:1.Dynamic LOD quad-tree algorithm is used to construct terrain.Grass distribution strategy in line with the natural laws and quad-tree terrain is introduced to render grass models in real-time according to the information of distribution in the process of dynamically generating terrain.2.Modeling methods of two kinds of grass is designed.For grass with obvious branching structure,the idea of curve Subdivision is introduced to semantic-related L-system theory to simulate branching patterns and the simulation process is divided into two phases.Meanwhile,entire realistic grass in different shapes are generated by applying axial deformation technology to construct leaves;for grass without obvious branching structure,a star-shaped structure is used to express the overall shape of many grasses and then the natural and dense effect of bushes is obtained by clustering them.3.Grass deformation strategy of different types in the physical wind field is designed. On the basis of simulating the physical wind field using the linear Autoregressive model, finite element analysis method is adopted to calculate deformation of grass with branching structure and displacement method based on the center combining with programmable GPU technology is used to calculate deformation of grass with star structure,and then both realistic and real-time requirements will be obtained through simulating dynamic grassland scenes.The simulation algorithms of realistic grassland scenes above motioned have been successfully implemented in the prototype system.The simulation effects verify the correctness of studied algorithms.
