Ontology has been widely introduced into the computer field as an explicit and formal specification of shared conceptual model, which realizes the sharing and reuse of the domain knowledge. It provides sharing and general understanding for the domain knowledge to facilitate human and computer interaction.Nowadays,WWW has made the international shipping market a whole unit. The realization of information sharing is the main direction of implementing information engineering to the shipping enterprises. There are important relationships between the field of shipping e-commerce and shipping transactions, all kinds of people want to get relevant information resources by consulting domain information in the network environment. The traditional information retrieval methods which based on keywords matching used the single and external model, whereas it lacks knowledge processing by single words or word combinations,so that the results returned are unable to meet the demand of user in recall ratio and precision ratio. The paper puts forward the idea of applying ontology into the field of shipping e-commerce and attribute-level model by analyzing the main concepts in the field of shipping e-commerce,construct the ontology and realize it by using the tool of Protégé, then describes the related concepts by semantic description. The paper applys ontology into the filed of shipping e-commerce and realizes the semantic expansion by using the well conceptual layer structure and the support of logical reasoning of ontology,RDF query language, and the query technology which based on Jena, break through the limitation of query by using traditional keywords to realize the information retrieval in the field of shipping e-commerce,to provide customers with better service information.
