A Passive Optical Network(PON) is regarded more and more as the ultimate solution for broadband access,because of the blooming of optical communications and the advantages of the PON's architecure.There are various kinds of PON technologies including BPON,EPON and GPON,and GPON is the most ideal access technology related to next generation network,which possess many critical advantages such as high rate,long haul distance,high efficiency and flexible retractility.Due to the Multipoint-to-Point nature of the uplink,the upstream data transmission in a GPON system is burst-mode at the rate of 1.25Gbit/s.But the rate of 1.25Gbit/s is hard to satisfy the needing of bandwidth.So the rate of 3.125Gbit/s becomes a middle rate of the transition as a next-generation PON(NGPON) technology.But this nature brings many challenges for the design of the burst-mode receiver.Compared with the burst-mode receiver used before,AC-coupling burst-mode receiving solution with a large time constant and small time constant are proposed in this paper for GPON.The effect of these schems have been tasted by simulation at the rate of 3.125Gbit/s,made on a MATLAB/Simulink platform,and the simulation results are provided to show the feasibility of the scheme.Main researchs of thesis is as follows:(1) The thesis researchs on the basic architecture and the operational principleand,analyzes the data packet structure and code-model features of GPON system,summarizes difficulties and the existent problems of the high speed burst-mode receiver.(2) Base on an analysis of burst-mode receiving technology,and consider the performance of the coupling capacitor,two AC-coupling burst-mode receiving solutions are proposed.To reduce the low-frequency distortion,the first scheme employs the AC-coupled circuit with a large time constant;a high-speed reset switch is also adopted to promote charge and discharging efficiency of the coupling capacitor.The second scheme employs a new design scheme of main amplifier used by the AC-coupled circuit with a small time constant to reduce the response time.(3) The effect of the transmitter simulation module and these AC-coupled burst-mode receivers designed by this paper have been tasted by simulation,made on a MATLAB/Simulink platform,simulation analysis of jitter,EX and response time of the receiver is also presented in this letter.And the simulation results are provided to show the feasibility of these schemes.(4) Based on the deep researchs on the BER and the channel utilization of the burst-mode receivers,the article analyses the performance of these high speed burst-mode receivers designed before.
