In modern environment of campaign,radar is requested to deal with electronic jamming,and phased array radar adopting adaptive null forming technology possesses this adaptive ability.Adaptive null forming technology aims at auto-adjusting the cell's weighted vector according to the direction of jam-coming,so it can form main beam pattern in the direction of the desired signal and null in the direction of jam, moreover,it can achieve the purpose of canceling jamming power and effectively improve the signal to noise ratio.Based on the requirement of multifunctional phased array antennas of the airborne Millimeter-Wave(MMW) Phased-Array Radar(PAR),this paper develops a beam control computer adopting adaptive null forming technology(for short,this following term is called beam controller).This beam controller is established in the platform, which hardware based on DSP and FPGA architecture and software based on POWELL arithmetic.By the computer's simulating and far field's testing,it is shown that adaptive beam null forming arithmetic for passive phased array antennas has good effect and meets the performance requirement.This paper studies and realizes the multifunctional beam controller for which the radar need the following:1.It realizes adaptive null beam for phased array antennas by optimizing the adaptive null forming arithmetic.2.It realizes the function of a pin-beam and completes phased array antennas' phase control of stepped frequency mode.3.It realizes the function of a omnidirectional-beam.The beam controller in this paper has high system integration degree,the high-speed computational capability(improve one time as the real-time performance as before,moreover cost reduce 50%),flexible structure,strong universality and expansibility.Now the system is using,which reliability and real-time performance are excellent through actual application.
