During the first half of the 20th century, two great men who were going to alter the future and open up a new page for the country were born in Chinese history: Sun Yat-sen and Mao Zedong. They spent their whole lives, one after another, in seeking a path of prosperity for the country and richness for the people, which makes them the leading figures in Chinese modern history. Of the two, one overthrowed the feudal system, and the other one founded socialism; one is respected as an all-party idol, and the other one is honored as the new China founder. Sun Yat-sen and Mao Zedong, as two great men of the 20th century, contributed greatly to the history development of China.They are not only great revolutionists but also outstanding journalists, newspaper and periodic socialists as well as propagandists. During their legendary lives, both of them were enthusiastic at journalistic activities like publishing newspapers and periodics, writing political articles. They employed newspapers and periodics to disseminate political ideas during their long-time revolutionary struggle, which, in return, gives birth to their complete and systematic journalistic ideologies.In viewing the journalistic activities and ideologies of Sun Yat-sen and Mao Zedong, we can discover that both of their ideologies are impacted by and and also benefit from former journalistic thoughts of Liang Qichao who also is engaged in newspaper and periodic activities, and the commonness of these ideas embodies in features like politicians running newspapers, propaganda employing newspapers and periodics, direction of public opinions. In this thesis, after sorting through numerous documents and utilizing former researchers' findings, the author is trying to make conclusions and also provide helpful findings for the journalistic ideologies of Sun Yat-Sen and Mao Zedong by comparing their ideas from different aspects of politics, economy, ideas, culture and ideology.
