In order to realize the high-precision and full-view measurement of complex medium-and-small-sized object,a structured-light-sensor-based five-axis scanning system that is mainly composed of a structured-light sensor,a coordinate measuring machine and two rotating flats is proposed. For scanning the top and around of the object, the laser plane sweeps around the object by the rotation of the two tables automatically. Fist of all, an automatic registration model is established to merge the data patches obtained from different angles, and a new calibration method is proposed to calibrate the five-axis scanning system. Then the experimental results show that the system fulfills the acquisition of the full view of a complex object once it is fixed on the rotating table, and possesses relatively high registration accuracy. The main and creative work in the dissertation consists of the following aspects:1. With the use of existing calibration method for line structured sensor intrinsic -parameter, and combining the single standard ball extrinsic-parameter calibration methodology, the calibration of the line structured sensor is finished.2. For actualizing the transformation from 2D datas of the image coordinate system to the 3D datas of the rotating flat coordinate system, the transformation relationship between the laser plane coordinate and the appointed rotating flat coordinate system is established.3. A calibration methodology of the rotating system using a single standard ball target is presented. By measuring the different positions of the ball center when the rotating flats have changed their angles, some calibration points are identified for solving the parameters of the system model.4. In Visual C++6.0 development environment on Windows XP platform,a software, through which the line structured-light sensor calibration, rotating flat system calibration and measurement process can be implemented and hardware can be controlled, is developedThe innovation of this paper is advanced a CMM based five-axis scanning system, built the relationship between the laser plane coordinate and the appointed rotating flat coordinate system, and presented a calibration methodology of the rotating system using a single standard ball target.
