The line structured light 3D reconstruction technique is a special technique with some unique merits, and it’s preferable that this type of 3D reconstruction method is not out of control when it comes to the color and brightness changes of the target surface, so this method is suitable and available to variety of applications and no more contrast intensifying agent. As it known to us all that the reconstruction accuracy mainly depends on the quality of the calibration procedures of it, therefore it is desirable and significant to design a high accuracy and reliable calibration method with a few feasible steps to go and there is plenty of research focusing on this practical need. For the purpose of all mentioned above, some already known methods to calibrate line structured light were analyzed in detail and then two novel methods to achieve the same goal were presented fully including the principle based on, the computational simulations and the physical calibration experiments. The advantages of the novel methods presented in this paper is the excellent accuracy obtained and the easily steps to perform.Without any doubt there are considerable amount of techniques of machine vision used in industry, and one of the applications of the line structured light 3D reconstruction technique is the vision inspection used in auto-assembly equipment, such as high speed and accuracy surface mount technology with some vision sensors. Therefore the research of application of the 3D reconstruction technique was discussed and experimented elaborately, in the case of the inspection of pins of electronic element, to measure the deformity of the object cared about, and a 3D version of deformity inspection was presented in the last chapter of this paper.
