With the rapid development of the ocean and information technology, the requirement of transmitting the data through the underwater channel is increasing greatly, and it becomes a very important project for us to make high data-rate and high reliable information transmission in the ocean today.As the sub-project of the national 863 project, this thesis mainly concentrates on the research and development of the underwater acoustic communication system. According to the underwater communication's character and the outcome of the domestic and international research, this thesis puts forward the total design method based on SOPC technique. This thesis enables the 863 project's realization and the communication protocol's running between relative networks.The first important content of this thesis is to put forward the 4FSK modulation algorithm with Manchester Coding as the main communication method, according to the result in underwater communication field. Because the frequency modulation isn't sensitive with the change of the phase, it can overcome the swift of phase and fading of energy which is caused by water channel. The Manchester Coding can provide enough synchronous information and assure for reliability of the signal transmission.Another important content of this thesis is to use the FPGA platform, in addition SOPC technology, and to realize the logic design of the main module of the underwater communication process as well as the design of the software control function. At the same time, the thesis designs the underwater communication data sample and store function, which enables the communication data's in time sampling and storing. The Co-design of hardware/software method enables the system to achieve the aim of high performance, great flexible, and removable.At last, according to great mounts of computer's simulations and enough experiments, the algorithm is verified and the realization is reliable. This thesis also analysts the system's character and puts forward the suggestion for further development. This thesis makes itself the foundation for further research.
