In modern marine military defence and commercial ocean development, the underwater acoustic communication is indispensable. The purpose of designing the underwater acoustic communication transponder is to solve the transmission problems of the high data rate, long-range information in the way that similar to the relaying method used in the microwave communication. This paper organizes discussion around the main technical indicator of the underwater communication network transponder-the low power consumption, and uses many methods to reduce the system's power consumption. Among them there are three kinds of main technological means:First of all, it is necessary to choose the devices with low power consumption and high-performance, including operational amplifiers, A/D, D/A, etc.Secondly, we choose the TMS320C55x series DSP witch is 16-bit fixed point digital signal processor developed on the basis of TMS320C54x series DASP. With the same peripheral equipments and data processing speed, the power consumption of TMS320C55x is 1/6 of TMS320C54x.Third, this paper uses the circuit on duty witch monitors the signal that the receiver receives. Only when the touch off signal reaches, the on duty circuit makes digital circuit part to power up and work.At the end of the paper we discusses briefly the phase-coherent technology and adaptive equalization technology. We also transplant some existing high-level language programs into DSP, utilizing high-efficiency DSP assembler language to realize them.
