Modern computer technology has greatly promoted the development of computing science, at the same time the requirements of the calculation are also rising. Because of the restrictions of computer hardware speed and technical level, single processing machine can far meet the demand of computing resource on challenging subject which is needed large-scale computing in many fields. One popular and effective method is to use parallel computing to improve computing capability.The visualization of ocean environment information data plays an important role in the development of ocean science, which put the collected physical data into a graphic, image, and given the data different color and opacity, as well as by changing the observation angle to show the various features of ocean environment information data. Ray-casting Volume rendering technology is one of the most important technical means in three-dimensional data visualization, not only it can show the surface characteristics of three-dimensional object, but also it can show its internal information, so it is widely used in the visualization of ocean environment information data. However, the ocean environment information data is often very large in actual production process, even a single high-performance computer is used at present, and it is difficult to achieve the effect of real-time display in the process of ocean environment information data interactive visualization. Therefore, researching on the parallel visualization technology of large-scale ocean environment information data is particularly important.The design of efficient parallel programs is the key to achieve high-performance parallel computing. Commonly used parallel programming tools have MPI (Massage Passing Interface), OpenMP, PVM, etc., with portability, powerful, high efficiency, MPI has been widely accepted as a message-passing model of parallel programming standards. The topic is a part of"Environmental Data Sharing and Information Technology Services Based on Grid (2006AA09Z139)", which belongs to National High-tech and Research Development Subjects undertook by National Ocean Information Center. Mainly introduce parallel analysis of the ocean layer and visualization research under ocean environment Information visualization services platform, including the data acquisition module, visualization data processing module, interactive display module. Take salinity data as the experimental test data to research and implement the parallel algorithm of ocean layer, by testing and analysis its parallel performance, The experimental results show that the use of parallel visualization methods can effectively improve the speed of data processing and speed up the map rendering of ocean environment information.
