Since 2000, the amount of mobile phones owned by farmers has taken an increasing trend. The information spreading way by mobile phones has become more and more popular. Concerning about the demands of agricultural science and technology information from farmers and basic-level agricultural workers, this research depends on document information resources from National Agricultural Library, agricultural science and technology information database and practical technologies database, aims to integrate and organize agricultural information resources, chooses mobile phones as information carriers, and carries on the research on agricultural science and technology information service system based on"Mobile Phones + Mobile Network". That would not only shorten the"Digital Gap"between city and country, or between different areas, but also improve the utilization rate of agricultural information resources, and promotes the process of agricultural and rural informatization.On the basis of the theory of software engineering and system engineering principles, this research analyzes the service objects, service modes and service content, and takes an overall consideration into these factors, like system developing platforms, developing languages, and databases. Besides, the research aims to put up with a mobile information system solution based on the universal database MYSQL, meeting the three information requests from JavaME, Web and WAP, so as to solve mobile agricultural science and technology information service personalized problems.(1) Take JavaME and Web Services to develop transplanted mobile client MIDlet. It can facilitate users to order agricultural science and technology information by a personalized menu, and effectively achieves information capturing, sending and parsing.(2) Take ASP and WML to develop agricultural science and technology information system based on WAP2.0, which will not only meet the requests from Web and WAP, but also make the mobile phones modify webpages'size suitable for screen display automatically.(3) Develop backstage agricultural science and technology information management system accessible for mobile phones and Internet, which will greatly facilitate system managers to maintain the information anytime.(4) Integrate mobile Client MIDlet, agricultural science and technology WAP Service subsystem, backstage information management subsystem into an economical and practical agricultural science and technology information service system, so as to meet great demands from farmers, planters, basic-level agricultural workers and researchers.This research refers to a great number of related researches at home and abroad, and combines with the current situation of agricultural information service in China. The shining points mainly contains the following two aspects:As for the study object, this research is different from general and comprehensive agricultural information service platform. According to the variety of agricultural information demands from different users, it takes agricultural science and technology information as information service content, which helps to make the information service more acceptable. As for the system realization, this research chooses mobile phones as the main information carrier, explores the information requests from JavaME, WAP and Web, and takes MVC design mode to construct the expandable agricultural science and technology information service architecture, so as to expand information service channels and improve the utilization rate of information resources.
