With the population of developing new network architecture, how to improve multicast mechanism and raise new multicast system and service model in these architectures becomes a new subject. The newly proposed Universal Network based on separation of identifier and locator devotes in research of routing scalability, mobility support and security advantages of the separation. The design and implementation of identifier based multicast routing mechanism Universal Network is discussed in this paper, considering the AccessID-RouteID separation technique and the characteristic of the new architecture as well as the trend of multicast.First, this paper briefly analyzes several multicast solutions in identifier separation architectures as reference. Second, aimed at the problems in present solutions, a new entity, UNMC is brought in the network and forms a trusted multicast architecture including authentication, routing, and charging. Under the new framework of multicast in the Universal Network, two identifiers, MSI and MGI are introduced, and the specific identifier-based multicast routing mechanism including the mapping of identifier in ASR, multicast routing and data forwarding in GSR is designed in detail. The function framework, protocol stack and deployment in the entity of ASR and GSR is proposed. The routing mechanism is implemented in the prototype system .Dual process of mapping separation and multicast routing is employed in ASR to achieve the multicast forwarding based on identifier mapping, so the two parts can be involved separately. Distributed multicast tree protocol like PIM-SM is deployed in ASR\GSR for multicast forwarding based on identifier state. The software implementation is deployed in experimental platform, and the detailed function test of multicast mapping table, data forwarding and UNMC interface protocol is finished. The result of multicast table, packets and demonstration shows that the protocol stack meets the demand of the multicast routing function. The work in this paper provides an experiment platform for and solid basis for the research of multicast routing in Universal Network.
