Laboratory Information Management System, short for LIMS, is connecting the analytic devices in laboratory via computers network, adopt the scientific management and advanced database technology, to realize the full-scale management which regards inspection as a key business.LIMS first appeared as a stand-alone version in abroad in 80', it developed rapidly along with the computer technology in 90's. Its mainstream is C/S structure, in the late 90's, it also appeared Web structure system. In recently years, the LIMS not only made a technology innovation, but also emphasize the strict following of ISO/IEC 17025 quality control system.Prior to that, LIMS stressed the management of database (storage, search etc.), mainly focus on the implementation of database management on computer. The current system put more emphasis on the realization of integration and normative management in laboratory, base on the management of data. Enables all business in lab operated efficiently on the condition of meet quality requirement. So the lab no longer merely have the functionality of data management, but also carry on the standard and omni-directionally management to the entire laboratory. This article has done the comprehensive research to the laboratory information management system, first introduced the LIMS's development and its economic and the social meaning, then introduced several key technologies applied in this system, combined with the specific situation, take use of UML technology to define the model of business in lab, Designs follows the enterprise multi-layer application model, realize the system by .NET platform under the B/S structure. and give a illustration about this system used in a state-level laboratory. Finally, made a summary of this paper and prospect for future.
