Data Mining(DM),also named as KDD(Knowledge Discovery in Database) is a hot topic in research by which we can pick up many trustful,novel,useful and understandable patterns from very large amounts of data.It draws upon many techniques from diverse fields,such as database technology,artificial intelligence, machine learning,statistics,fuzzy logic,pattern recognition,and artificial neural network,etc.The combination of Data Mining and Data Warehouse makes Data Mining an important and relatively independent tool in Data Warehouse applications. A method for building applications that are flexible and able to accommodate the ever-changing demands of users in a cost-efficient and timely manner is provided by component based development.In this thesis,the design and implementation of a data mining platform using component-based approach is presented.The content of the thesis is as follows:In the beginning,the introduction of the background,present state,significance of visual data mining tools is given in the thesis.And then the development of data mining system software and some related technologies are briefly introduced and analyzed.Secondly,the advantages and disadvantages,and the improvement direction of several widespread data mining systems nowadays are discussed;component technology is also presented.Thirdly,the typical architecture of data mining tool system is described and then the prototype of Data Mining Tool(DM Tool) System based on component technology is designed,the principal of design and the system requirement is analyzed.Fourthly,two kinds of popular framework(light-weighted framework and heavy-weighted framework) are compared and the criteria of choosing the system architecture between the two kinds of framework are given.The implementation of the prototype system using JAVA programming language is given. The emulation test and analysis is performed on the data mining tool prototype system described by this article,and the technical route and method researched by this article is approved having applied and reference value.
