Application And Research Of PICC Business System Based On BI's ETL

This research bases on the PICC(the People's Insurance Company of China) Business System,which is a practical project developed by Wuhan Orizone Information Science and Technology Co.,Ltd.With the development of IT service technology,all walks of life are using different kinds of Business Analysis System now,especially some big industries such as financial industry,physical distribution,and insurance industry etc.These industries have been applying information technology to manage their business for a long period of time,and with the development of the interior of the industries and the information technology, problems about old systems are shown,which has brought many inconveniences to the enterprises,and impair their average work efficiency.Business intelligence(BI) is a broad category of applications and technologies for gathering,storing,analyzing,and providing access to data to help enterprise users make better business decisions.It is formed by the combination of information technology(IT) and the demanding of data management.With several years of actual experience,the application of BI is ripe in the international society.According to some data,90%of top 500 enterprises in the US have already used BI software to assist their supervisors to make decisions.In recent years,more and more enterprise policy-makers of China have realized that they should apply BI to maintain and promote enterprise competitive power.In China the application of BI has come to a practice stage.Many industries such as financial industry,telecommunications industry,retail trade,and service industry are applying different kinds of BI tools,and they have realized the advantages of data analysis,report,and data mining in business analysis,customer choice,performance management,and early warning management etc.Under the situation of being familiar with people's insurance business and present business management information system,this thesis has studied the method and process of building a data warehouse for the insurance system,and design a data model and architecture for the data warehouse,and study the method of data cleaning up,data transforming,and data loading,which are needed in the process of data pretreatment.This business system also takes the existing business model as the subject division standard,so as to make it more practical for using.According to the document of PICC,the business operating standard,as well as business indicator system stipulated in the Data Specification,this business system can accurately calculate and reflect the real situation,and it has the function of comprehensive data statistics,analysis and consummate management.It can also satisfy the demand of multistage management institutions such as province,state,city and county etc.Through the application of Business Intelligence technology,the system can comprehensively analyse and process the interior and exterior data of the insurance system.It has solved the problem of the unreliable of extracting the collecting data, and guaranteed the consistency of the time of data extraction,eliminated the errors aroused by reporting layer upon layer,solved the problem of being unable to inquire the data or low efficiency,cleared off the complex relationships among different data. It has also settled the problems of application system integration by the definition of similar data structure and different level granularity.At the end of this thesis,it summarizes the achievement of this research,points out the next work of the operational data warehouse,as well as the deficiency of this research.
