Insurance companies need it to improve the their organization's performance, to make better use of their data, to implement decision-support system (DSS), to maintain their company's competitive edge. The operating data of insurance industry is very different from others' because its historical data is modified frequently. For the data environment does not accord the theory of DW, building the insurance data warehousing is a very hard project. This paper introduces the means to deal with the question and China Life Insurance Company Dalian Branch Data Warehousing project.The DW applications in insurance companies, the questions in Dalian Branch DW project and the requirement of this project are analyzed in the paper. By using query optimization, database index, middle base and automatic data update technique, the DW project is very successful. The academic design, the method of implement and the future of Insurance industry data warehousing are introduced.
