A Research On The Application Of Virtual Learning Community In The Teaching Of Courses In Computer Science In College

In this dissertation, we studied the concept, essence, and characteristics of Virtual Learning Community and many related examples. The research is based on the current status in the teaching of courses in computer science at college in our country. We further investigated its theoretical support and realistic foundation. This dissertation is supported by the following 4 theories: construct-study theory, lifetime-education theory, information-literacy theory, and information technology and course integration theory. Based on the way computer courses are taught and learned, the author proposed to construct the Virtual Learning Community. After that, the system model for the Virtual Learning Community was built. The author further studied the related technology and functions, designed and developed the Virtual Learning Community system for courses in computer sciences.It is essential that theory can be effectively applied in practice. In the last part of this dissertation, the author discussed the practical application of the Virtual Learning Community system. This system was used during the teaching of two courses: VB Language and C Language. At that time, the author distributed questionnaire to the students and collected them later on. By analyzing data from these questionnaires, the author concluded that the Virtual Learning Community system is a very helpful tool to improve the teaching of courses in computer sciences.In the discussion and future work section, the author mentioned the drawbacks of the current research and provided suggestions to improve and complete his research. The author expects that such research in the future would provide more help and guidance to the teaching of courses in computer sciences.
