Nowadays Embedded system has been widely spreaded into various technical fields for its unique advantages, and bringing it into the reconstruction of China's railway mobile communication format has great value. Firstly, the article puts emphasis on the importance of embedded sytem in the transformation of the equipments within the GSM-R locomotive integrated communication, which has followed the introduction of the needs of China's railway transformation and the embedded system, and has been followed by the concrete way of applying the embedded system into the locomotive integrated communication equipments.Based on embedded system with ARM, this paper focuses mainly on the design of the Man-Machine Interface (MMI) part. At the beginning, the author has explained how the overall design of the circuit, the choice of the core board, as well as the design of various parts of the circuit have been made according to the requests of the project. Then, based on both the core and bottom boards, together with the targeted functions, selecting the appropriative operating system and the suitable version of Boot loader,which is used to initialize the circuit board. In this project, the author makes full use of the rich I/O ports resources in the S3C2410 to precede the GPIO driver design, with the correspondent test plussed. Finally the processing and transmission of the voice information have been achieved through designing the driver programs for the S3C2410 GPIO to control the enable pins of the chips in the analog circuit. Besides, the expansion of the serial ports, as well as the display of information on the screen has also been obtained. Then the replacement of industrial computer in the original system has successfully been accomplished.What's more, it also has remarkably reduced the volume of products, depriced the costs, and improved the performances of the products. And it is proved that the expected functions have been totally realized.
