In our country the industrial foundation on audio and video is good enough. However,because of the lack of the important techniques and standards,related corporations have long been enslaved to foreign corporations or organizations,which hold on the intellectual property.AVS(Audio and Video coding Society) video is the second part of AVS which is put forward by out country independently.So many techniques are adopted in AVS-P2 to compress video stream in different bit rates, resolutions and qualities,and it could be applied to the Digital Broadcast,Interactive Storage Medium,Multimedia Mail,Multimedia Services on Packet Networks,Real-Time Communication,Long-Distance Video Monitor,and so on.A series of technology adopted by AVS-P2 include intra prediction,inter prediction,transform,quantification,entropy coding,and so on to encode video stream more efficiently.AVS-P2 decoder could reduce 30%complication compared with H.264,and AVS-P2 encoder could reduce 70%complication compared with H.264.The Diamond Video(VDO) Engine is a product of Tensilica Company,which is much smaller and lower power compared with other DSPs.It consists of two bigendian Xtensa processor cores,a stream processor and a pixel processor.Tensilica has added several video-specific instructions to the stream and pixel processors in the Diamond Video Engine.These instructions significantly boost processor performance with respect to general-purpose DSPs or other 32-bit microprocessor cores.These instructions also reduce the cycle-count for the most performance-intensive algorithms used in video processing.The dissertation mainly presents how to implement AVS video decoder based on the VDO388 Its two-core configuration and video-specific instructions let it process video stream more efficiently,and the better compatibility itself let it deal with complicated media stream with multiformat more expediently than AVS-special decoder chip.In details,AVS-P2 standard and its referrence software are analyzed,and then AVS video decoder porting and primary optimazation based onVDO388 are implemented,and consistence testing is discussed after optimization.Finally,according to the result of the consistence testing,it is shown that the syntax and quality of the decoder after porting and optimization accord with AVS-P2 standard objective.This dissertation is useful for the spread and application of AVS-P2.
