With the rapid development of embedded technology, the application of EmbeddedSystem in the image acquisition and processing field also has a great development.Embedded image acquisition and processing has been applied to many aspects, such astraffic monitoring, industrial automation, instrument testing security, financial security,consumer electronics, medical science, national defense and so on. At the same time, thesystem which is composed of Embedded System and image acquisition and processingtechnology consequentially can reduce the system's costs, and improve the reliabilityand stability of the system, and enhance the system's adaptability. So the imageacquisition and processing system based on Embedded System is bound to become anew hot research direction, which is the reason of presenting this project.Combining embedded development technology with image acquisition andprocessing technology, this paper realized image acquisition and processing systembased on embedded Linux. This system acquires image data through the cameraconnected with the system's USB interface. ARM9 Processor (S3C2410) embeddedLinux Operating System analyzes and processes the image data, detects the animatedobjects and displays the image on the LCD in real time. At the same time, the acquiredimages are saved as BMP into the SD card.This paper induced and summarized the character and the newest developmenttendency of Embedded System based on ARM processor, and analyzed the designprinciples of most of modules about the using hardware platform, and studied sometypical image acquisition solutions and some commonly used image-processingalgorithm. The Embedded Linux System was explanted to the TE2410 hardwareplatform, and the across-compile environment which is Embedded System developmentneeded was set up. After studying Linux device driver program, this paper transplantedand realized the USB driver program, the image acquisition based on Video4Linux andthe image display based on FrameBuffer, and introduced some related source program'swriting. After analyzing the structure and operation mode of the MiniGUI Graphic UserInterface (GUI) development software, this paper built the MiniGUI's developmentenvironment and across-compile environment on the home host. A GUI which couldmeet this system was designed, and some of main program was expounded, too. On thebasis of GUI, some algorithms were realized, such as image enhancement, edge detection and moving target detection. At last, the results of this algorithm on the GUIwere presented.
