One fundamental issue in wireless sensor networks is sensor deployment. Reasonable node deployment can optimize the use of network resources and help to improve network efficiency. Node deployment problem includes connectivity, coverage and energy consumption.These issues of deployment are discussed in this paper.In the thesis, the basic principles, characters, applications and the research status worldwide of wireless sensor network are introduced summarily. In the study on connectivity, the classification and the performances evaluation standards of connectivity are presented. Typical research methods of connectivity are introduced, and my simulation of one method is also given. A research on coverage is described in next part. The paper discusses the classification problems of coverage and the standards of evaluating a coverage control algorithm. Two typical algorithms: Worst and Best-Case coverage and Exposure coverage are discussed principally. Their principles and techniques and the virtue and defect are discussed in the thesis. According to the characteristics of visual sensor coverage model suitable for visual sensor is proposed. In the next part, this thesis studies the camera nodes deployment of wireless visual sensor network in given rectangular deployment scene. When known deployment region size and node transmission radius, the minimum number of nodes is obtained under the condition that the network is connect. And the concrete nodes arrangement method is also given. Using the proposed deployment scheme and the cover model of camera nodes, we perform the deployment experiments of camera nodes in four rectangular deployment scenarios. Through the experiments, the curves of the relationship between the best observation camera distance and view angle and the observation effect to the target area are acquired. In actual applications, we can change the best observation camera distance and the appropriate view angle under the given rectangular deployment scene.
