With the widespread development of network and miniaturization of computers, mobile terminal is becoming a necessity in our future life. Mobile terminal is smaller in size, lower in weight and more convenient in carrying. It combines some functions of personal computer with the capability of communication of mobile phone. Mobile terminals can communicate with each other on wireless network, and get various service on the Internet. Therefore, it is of great value to do deep research on the mobile terminal.A solution is put forward for offering mobility and wireless Internet access for the mobile terminal based on ARM Linux platform. The hardware of the mobile terminal is based on S3C2410 processor. The wireless network card makes use of WiFi module with USB interface. The process of data encryption utilizes FPGA module. In relation to the software of the mobile terminal, embedded Linux is adopted as the operating system, Konqueror/Embedded based on Qt is as application and mobile IPv6 technology is taken to support mobility of the terminal.In this dissertation the realization of the mobile terminal is introduced from low level software to the application, including porting Bootloader(Boot Load Program), porting Linux kernel, porting device drivers such as NOR Flash, network card, wireless network card, LCD and touch screen, making root file system, transplanting Qt, Qtopia and Konqueror/Embedded. Principle, related knowledge and implementing process is introduced. We also do some research and explain how to realize mobile IPv6 on the mobile terminal, build step-by-step the mobile test network on Linux, and test quality of communication between mobile terminal and correspondent node while the terminal is moving between different WiFi subnets.At last, the result of the test shows that the mobile terminal that we build can visit some websites including Chinese websites on the Internet. We can also operate the mobile terminal using mouse, keyboard and touch screen. To the mobility, the mobile terminal can keep in communicating with correspondent node while moving between the Home Link and the Foreign Link.
