In order to obtain high pass ratio in the EMC certificating test, the manufacturers usually carry out the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) pretest during research and development of product. The performance of the EMC pretest chamber has a great impact on the test results. Therefore, the performance of the chamber should be simulated and evaluated at the stage of design, according to its specific use.Firstly, the computational model and formulas of the high-reflecting region are given, based on the principle of Fresnel region. Besides, the computational formulas of quiet zone and its center coordinates are derived, on the basis of the high-reflecting region parameters and geometrical optics approach. After that, simulation analysis of the distribution of electric field intensity and field uniformity in the EMC pretest chamber are made by XFDTD. An improved theoretical computational model of normalized site attenuation (NSA) with arbitrary antenna transmitting power has been given in the last part of the thesis, and then simulation analysis of the NSA of the EMC pretest chamber can be made by XFDTD, associated with formula.According to all above, there comes to a conclusion that it is acceptable to use EMC pretest chamber as a pretest site in certain frequency bands. However, in the remaining bands, some improvement must be done in order to meet the requirements.
