Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) test method and the accuracy and reliability of test results directly affect the accepted or not when enterprise tested products. Semi-anechoic chamber (SAC) is one important scientific tool for the study of EMC and EMC technology. Semi-anechoic chamber can be used to replace the open site for equipment under test (EUT) for radiated emission and radiated immunity test. In order to further improve the detection capability of semi-anechoic chamber, the SAC in our lab was upgraded according to many construction plans from global views. The report is to normalized site attenuation (NSA) parameters, for example, with reference to ANSI C63.4-2003 standard NAS proposed a simplified model, and its related standard test method, theory and test result data are consistent.According to the existing conditions, chamber design issues are considered including the local change-point connection method which is to improve the performance of its electrical connections. Some typical problems during its usage of chamber are carried out by various method such as using standard EUT and cable display, modify certain area of chamber or insert new light absorbing material. We take the background noise as an example for evaluating the level of chamber. In order to measure test errors caused by the fluctuation of performance parameters of the chamber, we build a routine checking system to quantitatively monitor the performance of chamber in order to keep it in a valid and reasonable range. The improved semi-anechoic chamber for radiated emission testing of IT samples could ensure the EMC test results with high repeatability. And it is of great theoretical and practical significance for import and export inspection of information technology products.
